Long term volunteering with the CME


The APARE proposes volunteer missions in Europe and the Mediterranean region on projects linked to the sustainable development of territories and heritage preservation.

These volunteer missions take place in the context of the EVS (European Voluntary Service) of the EU “Youth in Action” programme. The CME is certified as a sending and welcoming organisation for the EVS.
 

The volunteer projects proposed by the CME are focussed on the following objectives:

• Support local development initiatives in Europe and the Mediterranean, encouraging new partnerships and the exchange of experience and good practice between those concerned by the environment and heritage.

• Make international volunteers available to welcoming organisations so that they can employ their skills and energy in a local project relating to the environment, heritage preservation or local development, according to principles of sustainable development.

• Encourage young people to discover another country and culture. Thanks to their active participation as volunteers, they can build up cross-cultural experience, which may facilitate their social and professional integration. At the same time they can affirm their Euro-Mediterranean citizenship by showing solidarity with other peoples and cultures.

 
Conditions for joining as a volunteer vary according to the projects and types of programmes.

The EVS is aimed at young people from 18 to 30 years of age who live in countries participating in the European “Youth in Action” programme. There are no fixed requirements for training or qualifications. Missions typically last from 2 to 12 months.
